VET FEE-HELP

Enrol in one of GCIT's approved VET courses and the Australian Government will offer interest free loans to eligible full-fee paying students to assist you to cover all or part of the cost of your TAFE tuition fees when studying at a diploma level or higher. VET FEE-HELP is an income contingent loan scheme for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector that is an extension of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP).

Under VET FEE-HELP, to be eligible you must be an Australian citizen, or a permanent humanitarian visa holder for the duration of study. The Australian Government pays the amount of the loan direct to GCIT, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once you earn a wage equal to or higher than the repayment threshold.

A loan fee of 20% applies to VET FEE-HELP debts. There is no application fee for VET FEE-HELP and no interest charged on the VET FEE-HELP debt. The accumulated debt is however indexed according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Indexation of your VET FEE-HELP debt, in line with the CPI, occurs when your debt has existed for 11 months or more.
