English language programs

Learn to read, write and speak English with a variety of language programs for international students at GCIT. Our teachers are fully qualified and experienced and our staff are available to assist you with study enquiries or career and personal counselling. Select the program that best suits you whether it be ELICOS/ELPIS, sitting an IELTS exam or enrolling in an advanced course specialising in English for academic preparation, business purposes, hospitality or nursing and health.

ELICOS/ELPIS

GCIT delivers nationally accredited English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) also known as English Language Programs for International Students (ELPIS). ELICOS/ELPIS courses cover six levels of English (beginner to advanced). All students are assessed on their first day and placed into a class appropriate for their current level of English. Choose from three study options: intensive full time, general full time or general part time courses.

Specialist English programs

GCIT offers advanced courses specialising in English for academic preparation, business purposes, hospitality or nursing and health. To enrol, international students must have an Academic IELTS 5.0 score (or higher), successful completion of Upper Intermediate General English at GCIT or a suitable result in the Placement Test at GCIT. Successful completion allows students with visas to enter certificate or diploma programs at GCIT without sitting the IELTS exam. Contact our staff to discuss your eligibility at international.gcit@deta.qld.gov.au.

IELTS

GCIT is the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Examination Centre for the Gold Coast region in the South Eastern corner of Queensland, Australia. The test is available at our Southport Campus twice per month. IELTS assesses the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication.
